1. Blow-off Method
Blow-off method involves using compressed air to blow off the contaminants clogging the filter. This method is suitable for filters with light or moderate contamination and is mainly used to clean air filters.
To clean your sintered bronze filter using the blow-off method, you will need a clean, compressed air source and an air gun. Hold your filter and gently blow compressed air into the opposite end of the filter to dislodge any dirt or debris. Ensure to blow air in the opposite direction to the flow direction; otherwise, you may push contaminants deeper into the filter media.
2. Soaking Method
Soaking method is effective for filters with heavy contamination, such as oil and grease. In this method, the filter is submerged in a solvent or cleaning solution to dissolve the contaminants. Solvent choices include mineral spirits or petroleum solvents and commonly used for industrial applications.
Before soaking the filter, remove as much of the larger pieces of dirt and debris as possible. Next, prepare the cleaning solution by diluting it to recommended concentration and heat it if necessary. Once ready, submerge the filter into the solution and let it soak for approximately 10-30 minutes, depending on the level of contamination. After soaking, remove the filter and rinse thoroughly with clean water to remove any remaining contaminants.
3. Ultrasonic Cleaning
Ultrasonic cleaning is ideal for filters with stubborn or minute contaminants. It involves the use of high-frequency sound waves to agitate the cleaning solution, allowing it to penetrate hard-to-reach spaces in the filter media.
To clean your sintered bronze filter using ultrasonic cleaning, you will need an ultrasonic cleaner and a suitable cleaning solution. Place the filter in the ultrasonic tank filled with the cleaning solution and turn on the ultrasonic waves. Allow the filter to soak for the recommended time, usually 5-15 minutes, then rinse it thoroughly with water.
After you have cleaned your sintered bronze filter using any of the above methods, you should examine it for any remaining debris or damage. If the filter is damaged or has excessive wear, it may be necessary to replace it entirely.
