The main raw material for iron-based sintered parts is iron powder, which grew from Hoganas in 1797 to the production of reduced sponge iron powder in 1911 using tunnel kilns to 2015, with numerous iron powder manufacturers producing various types of iron powder worldwide, with sales of about 850,000 t/a (excluding mainland China).

According to available statistics, North America produced about 420,000 t iron powders per year in 2015 (including 20,000 t of solder rod powder and 30,000 t for other applications), with two highs and lows in the 10 years from 2006 to 2015, mainly due to the financial crisis in 2009; 40,000 (t of which iron-based structural parts accounted for 81%, or about 149,000 t), from 2004 to 2015, the 12 years is high and low, while 2009 is still the lowest point, only 125,000 t; , only 75,000 t; in 2015, iron powder production in other Asian regions was 70,000 t in South Korea, 40,000 t in India, 30,000 t in Taiwan, 20,000 t in other countries, and about 253,000 t in Asia (excluding China).
